MBBS Admission
Toget admission in all the Medical colleges to do MBBS in India, one has to qualify in the National Eligibility Entrance Test ( NEET) which is conducted by the National Testing Authority ( NTA) usually in May every year. The tests are held in different cities in India. The results are declared in June usually.
The Medical Counseling Committee and the State counseling committees thereafter conducts online MBBS counseling for admissions to colleges under different quotas- Government Quota seats, Private Quota seats, NRI quota, etc.
The competition is usually very tough for ascertaining a seat for MBBS.
Eligibility for appearing in NEET
- The aspirant must be 17 years of age
- The aspirant must have completed 10+2 or equivalent exams with minimum 50% marks with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in the 12th Stream. ( 40% for SC/ ST / OBC)
Duration of the course
MBBS in India is a 5.5 years course wherein 4.5 years is for classroom studies and the last year is for mandatory internship in different medical colleges and hospitals. There are approximately 19 subjects who are covered during this period ranging from Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology, Pathology, Ophthalmology, and a lot more.
Course Fees
The course fee varies a lot depending on the Medical College one is opting for. Usually, the starting is from INR 6000 and can even go up to Rs 25 lakhs in some colleges.
On completion of the course
On successful completion of the MBBS in India, a student can prefix the term Dr in front of their names. Usually, Doctors in India are high in demand and they get jobs instantly. There are rarely any Doctors who are not working in India. Some of the students also opt for a Post Graduate degree course after completion of MBBS.
