SSMU History

Established in 1930, SSMU has covered a long way from being a modest institution to one of the leading medical colleges. Its vast experience in teaching medical science, modern facilities, and global recognition make it the first choice of every international student, especially from India. Today, there is hardly any healthcare facility that hasn’t been served by SSMU alumni.

SSMU Faculty

The university works with 74 departments managed by 648 experienced teachers and teaching staff. The infrastructure includes 1190 classrooms, 75 multimedia auditoriums, and 1 academic lyceum. It offers a wide range of courses to meet international standards. For these reasons, SSMU competes with the world’s best medical colleges.

Admission Process

Admissions to SSMU are conducted in September and March. The university receives digital applications from international students. The entire admission process is conducted online for the convenience of the students. The online application form is available on the SSMU website. Students are advised to go through the necessary information or seek help.

An MBBS in Uzbekistan is a six-year course. Studying MBBS at SSMU will cost you approximately 22 lakh, including hostel charges. However, the actual amount is calculated at the time of admission.

SSMU divides the six-year MBBS course into three stages, which are as follows:

  • Years 1-2 (Pre-clinical Phase): The initial years of the MBBS course are crucial for building a strong foundation. Students learn basic medical sciences to develop their knowledge of anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, and microbiology.
  • Years 3-5 (Clinical Phase): Students choose their specialisation, such as internal medicine, surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics, gynaecology, pharmacology, and pathology. They visit university-affiliated hospitals for clinical training.
  • Year 6 (Internship/Clinical Rotation): Students get hands-on training in the sixth year. It is an intense training that prepares students for final examinations and professional life. They learn from senior doctors and teachers.

SSMU also prepares its students for licensing exams, including FMGE (India). All foreign medical graduates must pass this difficult test to practice medicine in India. Students choose SSMU to study MBBS in Uzbekistan because it has a high success rate in licensing exams.
