Is the NEET essential for doing an MBBS in Ukraine

Ukraine is one of the famous international destinations for Indian students to study MBBS as there are several medical colleges with a world-class reputation in this country. Also securing an MBBS seat is easy and affordable in Ukraine, compared to India. And most importantly, after graduation, Indian students can start practicing in India by clearing a small screening test by the MCI.

NEET is compulsory for MBBS admission in Ukraine

Many medical universities in Ukraine are approved by the Medical Council of India and are also enlisted in the World Directory for medical school. The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Medical college admissions in India is required to study MBBS in Ukraine as well.

The National Medical Commission Act of the year 2019 has made NEET Compulsory for MBBS Admissions in any medical university, all over the world. For MBBS in India and any other country, the candidate has to pass the NEET exam. The NEET score is valid for three years as proposed by the MCI and accepted by the Union Health and Family Welfare ministry.

NEET Qualifying criteria:

Indian students who wish to pursue medicine in their undergraduate degree should clear the NEET exam. This also helps in easing out the admission process in any medical university in Ukraine. The upper age limit to apply for this exam is 25 years for the general category and age relaxation of 5 years is given to applicants who belong to the reserved category.

The qualifying criteria for the NEET are determined by its cut off percentile, according to which the minimum qualifying percentile required for students belonging to the general category is 50%. The qualifying percentile is 45% for the unreserved category with a disability is 45% and for the reserved category, it is 40%.

The students who are applying for MBBS in Ukraine should have a minimum NEET score of 50% to apply. And they should also have completed at least 17 years of age and have secured at least 50% marks in the physics, chemistry, and biology subjects at the undergraduate level.

Why NEET is Mandatory for MBBS in Ukraine?

The NEET exam is considered as a qualifying criterion for MBBS admission in Ukraine as there is no other qualifying test proposed by the medical universities in the country. It serves as an efficient and transparent test at international standards to test the competency of the candidates before granting admission to the MBBS degree. Medical colleges in Ukraine only ask

for a valid NEET scorecard (50% marks in the exam) and don’t expect the candidate to be a topper in it for granting admission.
